Bastian Schweinsteiger (/ ˈ ʃ w aɪ n ʃ t aɪ ɡ ər / SHWYNE-shty-gər, German: [ˈbasti̯a(ː)n ˈʃvaɪnʃtaɪɡɐ] ⓘ; born 1 August 1984) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.
