Tiruvarur Taluk (Thiruvarur Taluk) is a taluka in Thiruvarur district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Tiruvarur. In addition to the town of Tiruvarur there are thirty-four panchayat villages in Tiruvarur Taluk. [1]

During the British Raj, the Madras Presidency was made up of 26 districts, 12 of which were part of the boundaries of the present-day Tamil Nadu, namely, Chingleput, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, North Arcot, Madras, Madura, Ramnad, Salem, South Arcot, Tanjore, Tinnevely, and Trichinopoly.
Koothanallur (shortened as KNR) is a town in Tiruvarur district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town is located at a distance of 20 km (12 mi) from the district headquarters Tiruvarur and 350 km (220 mi) from the state capital Chennai. The town has a predominant Tamil Rowthers population. Koothanallur is known for the Big Pallivasal.
