Helen Van Wyk (April 21, 1930 – 1994) was an American painter, author and art instructor who created and hosted Welcome To My Studio, an instructional television program that aired for 10 series on PBS in the early 1990s.
Georgia O'Keeffe, Untitled, vase of flowers, watercolor on paper, 17 + 3 ⁄ 4 in × 11 + 1 ⁄ 2 in (45.1 cm × 29.2 cm), between 1903 and 1905. O'Keeffe experimented with depicting flowers in her high school art class. Her teacher explained how important it was to examine the flower before drawing it.
Yoshiwara no Hana (吉原の花, "Flowers in Yoshiwara") (c. 1791–92) is believed to have been the second painting executed in the series. The horizontal painting is a hanging scroll [ 19 ] of eight joined sheets of Xuan paper, [ 7 ] together measuring 186.7 by 256.9 centimetres (73.5 in × 101.1 in), and executed in ink in c. 1791–92 . [ 19 ]

An older, but similar work by O'Keeffe, Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 (1932), focusing on only a single flower, was sold by the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum at auction to Walmart heiress Alice Walton in 2014 for $44,405,000, more than tripling the previous world record auction for a piece by a female artist. In Sweden, rose-painting began to be called dalmålning, c. 1901, for the region Dalecarlia where it had been most popular and kurbits, in the 1920s, for a characteristic trait, but in Norway the old name still predominates beside terms for local variants. Rose-painting was used to decorate church walls and ceilings.
Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder (18 January 1573 – 1621) was a Flemish-born Dutch still life painter and art dealer. [1] He is recognised as one of the earliest painters who created floral still lifes as an independent genre. [2]
