During the 1960s, a group of dedicated students led by Cookie Cartwright revived the women's ice hockey program at Queen's University. Cartwright and the Golden Gaels would go on to capture the first women's university championship. [2] Known originally as the Golden Gals, the program captured the OWIAA title in the 1974–75 season.
