The Avedis Zildjian Company, simply known as Zildjian (/ ˈ z ɪ l dʒ ən,-dʒ i ə n /), [2] is an American musical instrument manufacturer specializing in cymbals and other percussion instruments. Founded by the ethnic Armenian Zildjian family in the 17th-century Ottoman Empire , the company relocated to the United States in the 20th century.
Before Sabian Cymbals was founded, its current manufacturing facility was operated by Azco, which was then a subsidiary of Avedis Zildjian. [3] In 1968, the Zildjian company set up Azco and the plant in rural Meductic, New Brunswick under persuasion from Robert Zildjian, who, beginning in the late 1940s, had grown familiar with the area from going on salmon fishing trips.

[2]Because so few of these vintage cymbals exist on the market today (they are much less prevalent that some other vintage Italian contemporaries, such as Zanchi), Bellotti remains one of the more obscure names in cymbal manufacturers.
In 1980 he endorsed The Zildjian Company and was included in the Zildjian Cymbal Set Up Book of famous drummers. He also endorsed Rogers and DW Drum Companies and Remo and Aquarian Companies. He played with the Darrell Mansfield Band, the Dave Steffen Band and The Chris Aaron Band before starting his own band, The Bill Lordan Experiment, in 2000.
His collaboration with Avedis Zildjian developed the modern hi-hat cymbals and standardized the names and uses of the ride cymbal, crash cymbal and splash cymbal. He is also credited with helping to formulate the modern drum set, being one of the first jazz drummers to use a bass drum in a recording session (December 1927). [8]
