The ACS Style is a set of standards for writing documents relating to chemistry, including a standard method of citation in academic publications, developed by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
While the American Physical Society (APS) has its own style guide defined via the document Physical Review Style and Notation Guide, [11] it still uses the AIP citation format and follows much of the style conventions of the AIP style. In chemistry, there is the ACS style, created and developed by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
The appendix also includes a description on preparing and submitting files, both electronically and as hard copies. On the formatting and style, however, the manual notes that it "may be supplemented—or even overruled—by the conventions of specific disciplines or the preferences of particular institutions, departments or instructors."
A short citation is an inline citation that identifies the place in a source where specific information can be found, but without giving full details of the source. Some Wikipedia articles use it, giving summary information about the source together with a page number.
In IEEE style, citations are numbered, but citation numbers are included in the text in square brackets rather than as superscripts. All bibliographical information is exclusively included in the list of references at the end of the document, next to the respective citation number.
