1984–1987 Dodge Charger. For 1979, Chrysler introduced a hatchback coupe version of the Omni/Horizon, named the Dodge Omni 024 and Plymouth Horizon TC3. Using an L-body chassis (shortened to a 96.6-inch wheelbase), the 024/TC3 coupes shared no external bodywork with the five-door hatchbacks.
For the 1979 model year, Chrysler shortened the L-platform of the Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon four-door hatchbacks from 99.2 to 96.5 in (2,520 to 2,451 mm) in wheelbase to make more sporty two-door with a sloping hatchback called the Dodge Omni 024 and the Plymouth Horizon TC3.
Dodge Charger / Plymouth Turismo The Dodge Omni 024 is a version of the Dodge Omni made from 1979 to 1982. Analogous to the VW Scirocco , this car was a lower, sportier three-door hatchback coupé version of the Chrysler/Simca Horizon, using the five-door hatchback's floor pan and chassis as a basis.
The Shelby GLH-S is a limited production series of sport compact automobiles from the mid-1980s based on the Dodge Omni and modified by Shelby American. Later the name would also be applied to a Shelby modified version of the Dodge Shelby Charger. The GLH-S models all used intercooled turbocharged 4-cylinder engines.
The Rampage borrowed the car's unibody construction and front end panels and components from the Dodge Omni 024 (later renamed the Charger), using the suspension from its parent vehicles with coil struts and a linkless sway bar at the front, and leaf springs with shock absorbers unique to the Rampage at the rear.
