Vilas County (/ v aɪ l ə s / VYE-ləss) is a county in the state of Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census , the population was 23,047. [ 1 ] Its county seat is Eagle River . [ 2 ]
Built in 1933 by local townspeople with a lamella truss dome on land donated by Charles F. Taylor, this was the first indoor hockey arena in Wisconsin. The town is served by four Vilas County Trunk Highways. CTH W leads west and south through Winchester and Manitowish Waters to a connection with USH 51 . CTH B runs east–west through the town and connects with M-64 about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the village of Presque Isle , to the east it connects with USH 45 and STH 32 at Land o' Lakes .
