Cibola High School is a high school for the west side of Yuma, Arizona, United States. It was the third high school opened by the Yuma Union High School District upon its 1988 establishment. The name derives from the Seven Cities of Gold , also known as "Cibola."
It is one of seven high schools part of the Yuma Union High School District. It was the second high school to be established in the community. The school shares its name with the Kofa Mountains , which were named for the King of Arizona gold mine, discovered in King Valley in 1896 and active from 1897 to 1910.
The school was established in 1909. Yuma High's mascot came when the original school building was destroyed by fire in 1910. The school then used the Yuma Territorial Prison, which had been closed, for the next three years. Classes were held in the cell blocks, and assemblies took place in the prison hospital.
