Schools must show how data are interpreted and used and how curriculum, instruction, professional development, and student support promote student success. In 2012 the program was renamed the National Blue Ribbon Schools program to distinguish it from a for-profit company which had appropriated the Blue Ribbon School name.
In 1983, Fenwick was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. [9] On January 18, 1999, U.S. News & World Report classified Fenwick as an "Outstanding American High School", making Fenwick tied for the #1 ranked preparatory school in the Chicago area. [8]
The school was originally constructed in 1949. Highland has been recognized as a U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence twice, in 2010 and 20 years earlier in 1990. Highland also has been recognized three times as an Illinois Horizon School to Watch, most recently in 2022, and originally in 2015 and the in 2018.

Warren Township High School (WTHS), or Warren, is a public four-year high school located in Gurnee, a northern suburb of Chicago, in Lake County, in Illinois.Because of size of the student body, the school is split across two campuses: the O'Plaine Road Campus for freshmen and sophomores, and the Almond Road Campus for juniors and seniors.
