The Aston Martin DB9 is a two-door grand touring car. It was produced in Gaydon, Warwickshire, by the British carmaker Aston Martin between 2004 and 2016 as both a coupé and a convertible, the latter known as the "Volante".

The Aston Martin DBS is a grand tourer based on the DB9 and manufactured by the British luxury automobile manufacturer Aston Martin. Aston Martin has used the DBS name once before on their 1967–72 grand tourer coupé. The modern car replaced the 2004 Vanquish S as the flagship of the marque.
In March 2014, Aston Martin issued "payment in kind" notes of US$165 million, at 10.25% interest, in addition to the £304 million of senior secured notes at 9.25% issued in 2011. The DB9 was the first car to use the VH platform.. The British carmaker Aston Martin developed the vertical–horizontal (VH) vehicle platform to serve as the basis of most of the mass-produced vehicles in its lineup manufactured between 2003 and 2016, [note 1] comprising the DB9, followed by the Vantage, DBS, Rapide and Vanquish.
