Augustus is the central character in Nathaniel Lee's 1676 tragedy Gloriana, also known as The Court of Augustus Caesar, and was originally played by Michael Mohun. Augustus also plays an important role in John Dryden's 1677 heroic drama, All for Love, although he never actually appears on stage.
