In the 2021-2022 school year, Boerne ISD received a rating of 'A' from the Texas Education Agency on its A-F scale. The district also received ‘A’ ratings in the 2017-2018 and 2018-19 school years; the TEA did not rate school districts in the 2019-2020 or 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic.
Boerne High School is a public high school located in the hill country just 30 miles northwest of San Antonio in Boerne, Texas, USA. The high school used to be the only high school in Boerne which now has a second high school, Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School. The "original" Boerne High School currently serves as Boerne Middle School North.
Champion first opened for the 2008-2009 school year. The school is named after Samuel V. Champion (1954 - 2007), who was a longtime Boerne resident and principal of Boerne High School for many years. He also taught and coached at BHS, and was a member of Boerne High School's graduating class of 1972.
This included a $1.5 million matching grant in 1964, the highest such matching gift to any American private school at that time. [4] As of 2023 the Foundation had contributed over $125 million in total grants to nearly 1,000 independent schools and associations.
At the December meeting, the Abilene ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. James Largent as interim superintendent following Dr. David Young's retirement.
