Shafi Imam Rumi (29 March 1951 – 30 September 1971) was a guerrilla fighter in the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was the eldest son of Jahanara Imam , who wrote about Rumi's experiences and daily life in her memoir about the war, Ekattorer Dingulee .

This was a century before the arrival of Muslim general Bakhtiyar Khalji and 250 years before Shah Jalal's Conquest of Sylhet in 1303 CE. Thus, Rumi arrived in Bengal even before the conquests.
