Marshall County is a county located in far western portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky.As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,659. [1] Its county seat is Benton. [2]It is the only Purchase Area county that does not border another state; a narrow strip of land in neighboring Livingston County separates Marshall County from the Ohio River and the Illinois border.
Hoover’s name was first brought forward by the Kentucky Historical Society board’s nominating committee, which is chaired by Tommy Turner, former judge-executive of LaRue County.
Jonathan Creek archaeological site is an important Mississippian era (ca. A.D. 1000–1500) village and burial mound site, situated on the banks of the Tennessee River, located in the unincorporated town of Aurora in Marshall county, Kentucky. It was originally discovered and noted by Robert Loughridge in the late 19th century.
