State Route 2 (SR 2), formerly known as Inter-county Highway 2 until 1921 [3] and State Highway 2 in 1922, [4] is an east–west highway crossing most of northern Ohio. Its western terminus is at the Indiana state line near Hicksville where the route becomes Indiana State Road 37 which continues to Fort Wayne, Indiana .
The Lakeland Freeway (often called "Route 2" in the section that carries solely Ohio State Route 2) is a limited-access freeway in the northeastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. It runs with and parallel to Interstate 90 , and follows the shore of Lake Erie , linking the suburban areas of Lake County to Cleveland and Cuyahoga County .
SR 1, formerly known as Inter-county Highway 1 until 1921 [1] and State Highway 1 in 1922, [2] was the designation for the National Road and National Old Trails Road through central Ohio between 1912 and 1926. [3] [4] US 40 was first signed along the length of the route in 1926 and became the road's only designation by 1927. [4] [5]

The bridge, completed in 1939, is 8,000 feet (2,400 m) in length, and was the longest elevated structure in Ohio [4] until the 2007 completion of the Veterans' Glass City Skyway in Toledo. It was named for Harold H. Burton , 45th mayor of Cleveland, in late January 1986. [ 5 ]
SR 272 was a 1.2-mile-long (1.9 km) state highway located north of downtown Canton. [9] [10] The entire route followed Canton's 30th Street and connected SR 8 and US 62/SR 43. [9] [10] The route was in existence from 1930 until 1961, though for its last year as a state route, SR 272 was marked on the official Ohio highway map.
The entire length of the Shoreway is part of the Lake Erie Circle Tour (LECT) and all but the very eastern end of the Shoreway is part of State Route 2. The Shoreway also carries parts of Interstate 90 and State Route 283 on its eastern side, and parts of U.S. Route 6 and U.S. Route 20 on its western side.
The Ohio Turnpike/I-90 connector (designated exit 8A, now exit 142) was built in Lorain County in Amherst Township and Elyria Township in 1975. [5] From the exit east, I-90/State Route 2 (SR 2) travels east along the south shore of Lake Erie through Cuyahoga County to Downtown Cleveland. SR 2 separates from I-90 at Detroit Road in Rocky River.
