This web portal allows you to view all Caltrans cameras available per district. For example, "District 7" is metropolitan Los Angeles. While these cameras are not live "video", each camera image is updated every 1 to 20 minutes depending on its location, however I have not found that the page itself will show the updated images until you ...

    forums.radioreference.com/threads/caltrans-maps.425689

It is hard to find maps on the Caltrans site. I came into possession of a document showing statewide and district communications sites courtesy of Robert Kelty many years ago (32+). It is now very much out of date. It was the statewide plan of how Caltrans was going to switch to 800 MHz from VHF-Low.

The Diamond RH77CA is fine for Cal Fire and other frequencies. The Remtronix 800 will handle the Caltrans better as it is tuned for those frequencies. You will need a BNC right angle adapter, or a small patch cable for either of those antennas. These are referred to as rubber duck antennas.

  7. CHP Unit designators - RadioReference.com Forums

Occasionially you might also hear a "MOVIE" unit, which just as it sounds, is a unit providing traffic enforcement/control during filming on or adjacent to state highways. I believe Caltrans foots the bill for the COZEEP and MAZEEP officers, and the movie production company pays for MOVIE officers' time and expenses.

  8. California Radio Interoperable System (CRIS)

    forums.radioreference.com/threads/california-radio-interoperable-system-cris...

NOTE: 769.40625 (and 770.91875) was broadcasting a Caltrans audio test the past couple of weeks. Now that 769.40625 has become a control channel, I'm thinking one of three possibilities: 1 - Likely - This is the start of the "statewide" CRIS (California Radio Interagency System)

If you scroll through their product gallery online, almost everything is tagged as 'notify me when back in stock'. And, as I noted earlier, some categories such as backup cameras, on Amazon, are devoid of Whistler products. The patient may not have been officially declared dead, but the coroner may be on the way to make the announcement.

Guess the next time they stop by and want to see if I have any images on my security cameras, I can tell them "Nope, if I cannot hear you, then you cannot see mine." Reactions: E3_USA , One13Truck , Scanner996p2 and 2 others

  11. LA CHP Callsigns? - RadioReference.com Forums

    forums.radioreference.com/threads/la-chp-callsigns.394835

It would be like other departments, numbering is random unless you follow them very close. Car number is for the car, so up to 3-4 officers could use that car, officers are assigned to that car for tracking.
