Tom Pryce was born on 11 June 1949 in Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales, to Jack and Gwyneth Pryce (née Hughes). [1] [2] Jack had served in the Royal Air Force as a tail-gunner on a Lancaster bomber before joining the local police force.

Tom Pryce: van Vuuren was a junior fire marshal in the pit lane. While crossing the track with another marshal to extinguish a fire that had engulfed Renzo Zorzi's vehicle, he was struck by Tom Pryce, who was unable to see van Vuuren. The impact killed van Vuuren instantly, while his fire extinguisher smashed into Pryce, killing him as well. [22]

And on 18 March, Carlos Pace was killed in a private light aircraft accident in Brazil. The fire extinguisher which Van Vuuren was carrying struck Pryce's head and killed him.
