The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is part of the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, along with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (PEMS). It is headed by Chief Martin Devine (acting) appointed by Mayor Ed Gainey. The Chief of Police is the top law enforcement agent of the city of Pittsburgh.
