Wisconsin Dells in the Town of Delton, October 2012. As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 2,024 people, 747 households, and 561 families residing in the town. The population density was 68.4 people per square mile (26.4/km 2). There were 862 housing units at an average density of 29.1 per square mile (11.2/km 2).
It was named for its location in the city of Kilbourn, which changed its name to Wisconsin Dells in 1931. The dam was designed by Daniel W. Mead [ 4 ] and built from 1906 to 1909 by the Southern Wisconsin Power Company, led by Magnus Swenson of Madison, Wisconsin and Bates & Rogers Construction of Chicago. [ 3 ]
