The Marching Hundred (or Hundred) is the marching band of Indiana University. The Marching Hundred is the product of tradition dating back to the organization of the first band at Indiana University in 1896, which was founded to provide recreation for interested students. The 22-piece band of 1896 grew to 47 members by 1913. [1]

"Indiana, Our Indiana" is the official school fight song [citation needed] of Indiana University. The lyrics were written by IU band director, Russell P. Harker, to the tune of the trio from "The Viking March" by Karl King , conductor of the Barnum and Bailey Circus Band.
The band played at every football and basketball home game, as well as baseball games against Purdue and Indiana University. An all-male organization until 1942, the Sycamores admitted 20 females in order to replace members serving overseas in World War II, and has remained co-educational since.
The contest serves as the championship for the Central Indiana Track Show Association, an organization that governs high school track show marching band contests in Indiana each summer.
