The Quebec Winter Carnival (French: Carnaval de Québec), commonly known in both English and French as Carnaval, is a pre-Lenten festival held in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. After being held intermittently since 1894, the Carnaval de Québec has been celebrated annually since 1955. [ 1 ]

The inaugural Quebec Winter Carnival in 1894 occurred on Frémont's watch as Quebec City mayor. [4] In 1891, [3] Frémont married Caroline-Alix, the daughter of Joseph-Octave Beaubien, a member of the 1st Canadian Parliament. [5] Frémont died at Quebec City at the age of 46 after a long illness. [1]
