Kattappana ([kaʈ:ap:ɐna]) is a municipality in the Idukki district of Kerala, India. It is located 21 km (13.0 mi) southeast of the district headquarters in Painavu and about 140 km (87.0 mi) north of the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram .

Government college, Kattappana was established in July 1977 to fulfill a long need in the vicinity. GC Kattappana Main Building. Prof.R.Balakrishnan Nair took charge as the first principal of the college on 26 July 1977. The affiliation was granted by the University of Kerala for starting a Junior college. The classes started on 18 August 1977.
