The National Ballet of Canada was formed in 1951 by the English ballet dancer Celia Franca, who had previously been a dancer with ballet companies in the United Kingdom. Franca immigrated to Canada in 1951 and founded the National Ballet of Canada that same year, [2] also hiring the English ballet teacher Betty Oliphant to work with the company.

Tina Pereira (born 1982 or 1983 [1]) is a Trinidadian-Canadian [2] ballet dancer and designer. She joined the National Ballet of Canada in 2001, then the Dutch National Ballet in 2004. She returned to the Canadian company in 2006, and was promoted to principal dancer in 2021.
In 1998, Ogden joined the National Ballet of Canada as an apprentice, and was promoted to the corps de ballet the following year. [1] Ogden was named Principal Dancer in 2005. [3] She has danced principal roles in productions such as Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. [3]
Sonia Rodriguez (born December 19, 1972) is a Canadian ballet dancer. She joined the National Ballet of Canada in 1990 and was promoted to principal dancer in 2000. In 2022, she retired as the longest serving dancer the company.
