Chadderton is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, on the River Irk and Rochdale Canal.It is located in the foothills of the Pennines, 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Oldham, 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Rochdale and 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Manchester.

It was created an urban district in 1894 by the Local Government Act 1894 and included the civil parish of Chadderton and part of the district of Hollinwood .
History [ edit ] After a local board of health was established in Chadderton in 1873 and the Chadderton Lyceum then got into financial difficulties the following year, the board of health acquired the Lyceum's premises at the corner of Middleton Road and Melbourne Street and converted the building into Chadderton's first town hall.
Chaderton was born in Lees, [1] [2] or else Chadderton, [3] both near Oldham, Lancashire, England, probably during September 1536, a son of Thomas Chaderton, a Catholic. [4] His birth preceded the institution of parish baptism registers in England in 1538. Under the tuition of Laurence Vaux, a Roman Catholic priest, he became an able scholar.

The geography of the park itself is like a bowl, the grass fields lie in the centre of the park at the lowest point and the land to either side of the fields is higher.
