Phuntsholing, also spelled as Phuentsholing (Dzongkha: ཕུན་ཚོགས་གླིང་), is a border town in southern Bhutan and is the administrative seat of Chukha District. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The town occupies parts of both Phuentsholing Gewog and Sampheling Gewog .
The East-West Highway, also known as the Lateral Road, is Bhutan's primary east–west corridor, connecting Phuentsholing in the southwest to Trashigang in the east. In between, the Lateral Road runs directly through Wangdue Phodrang, Trongsa, and other population centers.

Highways of Bhutan [1]. Bhutan had a total of 8,050 km (5,000 mi) of roads in 2003, 4,991 km (3,101 mi) of which were paved and 3,059 km (1,901 mi) unpaved. [2] Because of the lack of paved roads, travel in Bhutan was by foot or on mule- or horseback until 1961; the 205-kilometre (127 mi) trip from the Indian border to Thimphu took six days.

Hasimara–Pasakha-Phuentsholing line: 18 km Ext-3: Phuentsholing-Paro International Airport-Doklam-Lingzhi Yügyal Dzong line. N (2025?) 2005 Indo-Bhutan MoU Hasimara Airforce Station–Pasakha-Phuentsholing. This line has the first priority to be constructed due to high passenger and goods transportation. [5] [2]
The Takthi Canteen, commonly known as the DANTAK canteen midway between Phuentsholing and Thimphu is a major stop for travelers. [ 14 ] [ 15 ] The project recruits local workers from Bhutan as well as Indian workers from adjoining districts like Jaigaon , Alipurduar and other parts of Eastern and North-Eastern India under a basic monthly wage.
