Mapúa University (Filipino: Pamantasang Mapúa), also known simply as Mapúa or MU, is a private research-oriented non-sectarian university located in Metro Manila, Philippines. The university was founded in 1925 by the first registered Filipino architect, Tomás Mapúa , a graduate of Cornell University in New York , US.
Opened on June 18, 2006, the college was established by the Mapúa University in 2006 to expand its presence in Laguna, bringing its renowned engineering, maritime, and technological education to Southern Luzon. [4] A branch was also established in Davao in 2018, marking the official start of the institutions' operations in Mindanao. [5]
The Mapúa Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) is the flagship college of the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna.The college is under the Mapúa School of Engineering in the Philippines.
April 10, 2008 marked an event for Malayan Colleges Laguna, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mapua Institute of Technology, and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., one of the country’s largest crew management companies, as they launched the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training.

The Mapúa Cardinals and Lady Cardinals are the varsity sports teams of Mapúa University that play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines).. The Mapúa Cardinals holds the NCAA record for the most general championships in the seniors' division with a total of 20—the last of these championships was won in 1993.
