The 2024 European Tour, titled as the 2024 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 53rd season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. It was the third season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with DP World that was announced in November 2021. [1]
The PGA European Tour is the lead partner in Ryder Cup Europe, a joint venture also including the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland and PGA of Europe that operates the Ryder Cup Matches in cooperation with the PGA of America. The PGA European Tour has a 60% interest in Ryder Cup Europe, with each of its junior partners holding 20%. [4]
Due to the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, the Honma Hong Kong Open, originally scheduled for 28 November – 1 December 2019 as a co-sanctioned event with the Asian Tour, was rescheduled for 9–12 January 2020 as an Asian Tour event without European Tour sanctioning. [4] [5] The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted the remainder of the schedule.
Following a statement produced by the European Tour on 24 June 2022, they confirmed that players who competed in the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series event in London would be fined £100,000 as well as being prohibited from competing in events co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour (which prohibits members from participating in the LIV series).
The Singapore Classic, [7] SDC Championship, Jonsson Workwear Open (previously a Challenge Tour event) and the Korea Championship were added to the schedule. The ISPS Handa Australian Open was also added to the schedule as a co-sanctioned event with the PGA Tour of Australasia, the first time Australia's national open had gained European Tour status.

The tournament switched to September in 2019 as part of a revamp of the golfing calendar in which the US PGA Championship moved to May.
