Kingsway Christian was founded in 1992, originally having grades K–6. Beginning in 1997 the 7th grade was added and for the next five years each successive grade was added. Kingsway's first graduation was held in June 2003 when 17 students received their diplomas.

Previously a community school administered by Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council, Wallasey School converted to academy status in February 2015. However the school had already been renamed The Kingsway Academy in September 2014. On 3 July 2017 it was confirmed by the school that it would close down in August 2018. [3]
The school was established in 1903 in Lorne Park, a community to the west of Toronto, now part of Mississauga, by Eugene Leland and his wife, and was then known as Lornedale Academy, and had eight students from Grades 1-9. By 1907, the enrollment had grown to 40 students.
Designed to accommodate an enrollment of 1,000 and constructed at a cost of $1.75 million (equivalent to $17.4 million in 2023), the school opened in September 1963 for students in grades 7-12, including students in grades 9-12 who had previously attended Swedesboro High School, which ended operations after 40 years. The Kingsway Regional School District is a regional public school district serving students from five communities in Gloucester County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The district serves students in seventh through twelfth grades from East Greenwich Township , South Harrison Township , Swedesboro and Woolwich Township . [ 3 ]
Extensions to the school were opened on 4 June 1926. The first headteacher was Mr. H.G. Mayo, M.A. It was administered by the County Borough of Wallasey. By 1968 it had 700 pupils.
