Irwin Held (July 1, 1925 – June 17, 2013) was an American restaurateur, known for being a longtime owner of Barney's Beanery, a famous West Hollywood "beer-and-burger" restaurant, holding the establishment from 1970 to 1999.
He first worked as a bartender in 1973 for Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood [3] [6] while performing as a drummer in a band. [7] Taffer's first bar management job was at The Troubadour night club in West Hollywood in 1978. He was given full control of the bar in 1981 where staff theft was common. He opened his first bar as owner in 1989. [8]
