Government College of Engineering, Karad (GCEK) is an autonomous technical institute in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was established in 1960 and is affiliated to the Shivaji University with an autonomous status under the UGC .
The department is located in the 'Annexe' building of the college. The Department of Civil Engineering conducts both full time and part time undergraduate courses in Civil engineering. It also conducts a postgraduate programme in Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, and a part time Post-Graduate programme in Soil Engineering. [3]

In 2010 a specially dedicated lab for Robocon have been added to the MITCOE. In 2012 MIT college of engineering Robocon team was ranked 6th & in 2013, 14th among 80 engineering colleges including IIT's and NIT's nationwide. The college was founded in 1961 as a government-aided engineering college by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi under the management of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan.The foundation stone of the college was laid on 17 September 1961 by Yashwantrao Chavan, who was then the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The college was established in 1964 by the Government of Maharashtra, along with other three Government colleges at Pune, Aurangabad, and Karad. It was initially affiliated to Nagpur University and later on shifted to Amravati University in 1982.
