There are four main types of protected areas in Ontario: Provincial parks: Areas containing significant natural and cultural features, and provide opportunities for outdoor recreation, scientific research and environmental monitoring, and education. Provincial parks are further subdivided into six classes:
Rainbow Falls Provincial Park is a recreation-class provincial park within the Ontario Parks system. This 575-hectare (1,421-acre) park consists of two non-contiguous parts: [5] Whitesand Lake campground in the main park, and the historic Rossport Campground, east of the fishing community of Rossport, Ontario, which provides campsites along the rough and rocky shorelines of Lake Superior.
Lake of the Woods Provincial Park is a provincial park in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It protects several islands in Lake of the Woods, in both Kenora and Rainy River Districts. [2] It was established in 1967 and expanded with 11,800 hectares (29,000 acres) in 1985. [4] It provides backcountry camping opportunities. [3]

Pancake Bay Provincial Park was established in 1968 by Ontario Parks. It is a recreation-class provincial park created to help preserve the fragile beach dune ecology. There are 325 campsites, including 160 with electricity. There are three comfort stations. Yurt camping is available in the park. Group camping sites are also available.
Halfway Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park astride Ontario Highway 144 in Sudbury District in northeastern Ontario, Canada.It is operated by Ontario Parks and is named for Halfway Lake, which is entirely within the park grounds.
