1955 Imperial car model shown on display at January 1955 Chicago Auto Show, in the first year of its separation from Chrysler. The 1955 models are said to be inspired by Exner's own 1952 Chrysler Imperial Parade Phaeton show cars (which were themselves later updated to match the 1955-56 Imperials).
Unlike the 1955–1983 Imperial, this car was a model of Chrysler, not its own marque. Based on the Y platform, it represented the top full-size model in Chrysler's lineup, above the New Yorker Fifth Avenue.
