The accident aircraft was an Antonov An-26, registration RF-92955, msn 10107. It had first flown in 1980. [6] This accident is the fifteenth An-26 fatal crash in this decade with a total of 159 deaths, none of these flights were scheduled passenger airline operations. [7]

On 25 September 2020, an An-26Sh military transport plane crashed during a training flight [1] in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. [2] Of the 27 people on board, one survived. The aircraft was destroyed. The aircraft had tail number 76 and belonged to the 203rd Training Aviation Brigade (A4104 military unit).

Aeroflot Flight 1661 was a passenger flight operated by an Antonov An-24 that crashed during its initial climb, 25 minutes after take-off from Tolmachevo Airport on 1 April 1970. All 45 people on board perished. An investigation revealed that the Antonov collided with a radiosonde, causing a loss of control.
