Támerlein: A two-handed sword, with its pommel containing an emerald and the inscription "I am Támerlein, bringer of the final sleep" engraved in it blade. It originally belonged to the Elven Dragon Rider Arva, who gave it to his sister, Naudra, to defend herself when Galbatorix and the Forsworn attacked their homeland.

Brisingr begins about three days after the events in Eldest conclude. It continues the story of The Inheritance Cycle and takes place on the fictional continent of Alagaësia during a struggle for power as the small country Surda and a rebel group called the Varden attempts to overthrow the larger Broddring Empire, ruled by the evil King Galbatorix.
Eragon defeats Murtagh, and urges him to join his side. Murtagh, who had developed feelings for Nasuada in her captivity, has his true name changed, and turns on Galbatorix, using the Word to strip him of his wards. Galbatorix incapacitates Murtagh, and battles Eragon, while Saphira and Thorn battle his dragon Shruikan.
