The Chemical Corps is the branch of the United States Army tasked with defending against and using chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons.The Chemical Warfare Service was established on 28 June 1918, combining activities that until then had been dispersed among five separate agencies of the United States federal government.
The regiment contributed to operations world-wide during every year of its formation. It was disbanded on 16 Dec 2011 [7] as a result of the 2010 UK Strategic Defence and Security Review, with capabilities being transferred into the newly formed Defence CBRN Wing, formed by 26 and 27 Sqns RAF Regiment and 2623 Sqn RAuxAF Regiment. On February 3, 1920, the 1st Gas Regiment was reorganized and reactivated. [2] It was part of a newly created but tiny Chemical Warfare Service (CWS) which comprised only the 1st Gas Regiment and a few separate service, laboratory, and depot companies. The regiment, including C Company, was stationed at Edgewood Arsenal, MD.
The 48th Chemical Brigade is the only active duty CBRN defense brigade in the Army. The Brigade is tasked to discover, counter, and neutralize chemical, biological or nuclear threats. The Brigade was activated 16 September 2007, under the command of Colonel Vance P. (Phil) Visser and CSM E. Donald Moten.
28 Engineer Regiment (C-CBRN), Royal Engineers is a regiment of the British Army that focuses on countering chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (C-CBRN) hazards in the environment. Its operational chain of command is 29 (Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search) Group , under 8th Engineer Brigade as part of Allied Rapid Reaction Corps .
