Alfred Leo Abramowicz (January 27, 1919 – September 12, 1999) was an American prelate in the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago in Illinois from 1968 to 1995.

Church of the Holy Family was founded in 1857 by Fr. Arnold Damen, SJ, at the behest of Bishop Anthony O'Regan.Damen wanted to build a large complex with multiple buildings to serve the needs of the local Catholic immigrants, but many were concerned about raising the funds for a grand church in the wake of the Panic of 1857.
Since 1999, the church has undergone extensive restoration of the original structure, the interior decoration by John A. Mallin in 1961 and the 1928 Austin organ, Opus 1602. [2] The historic paintings in the Shrine Altars which date to 1890, were recently restored by the Art Institute of Chicago.
