The West Hill Historic District is a prestigious residential subdivision of the town of West Hartford, Connecticut. Originally the site of the estate of Cornelius J. Vanderbilt , son of transportation magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt , it was developed as a planned subdivision of upper-class residences in the 1920s.
Prior to his election to the State Senate, he was mayor of West Hartford, Connecticut, serving on the Town Council for five years.As Mayor, he oversaw an executive reorganization of town government, land use changes that eventually led to the economic renewal of the town center and cut property taxes.

The West Hartford Reservoirs are a series of five reservoirs and a number of ponds and water tanks in West Hartford, Connecticut. [11] The Revolutionary War Campsite is a historic archaeological site located on MDC land near Reservoir #6.
The house was built c. 1775 by Allyn Steele, the son of one of West Hartford's early proprietors. It was probably built on the site of an earlier building. It is one of the few surviving 18th-century houses in the town. It was sold out of the Steele family in 1814, and remained the centerpiece of a farm until about 1925. [2]
