Macon Centreplex was built in 1968 as the first facility of its size and kind in the state. Mayor Ronnie Thompson was among its most influential backers. Thompson, who served from 1967 to 1975, blocked an appearance at the facility by the boxer Muhammad Ali because the mayor objected to Ali's Conscientious Objector status during the Vietnam War.
The Black Crowes have sold more than 30 million albums, [3] and are listed at number 92 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The Black Crowes is an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia.Originally formed by brothers Chris (lead vocals) and Rich Robinson (guitar) in 1984 as Mr Crowe's Garden, the group went through a series of early personnel changes before settling on a lineup including guitarist Jeff Cease, bassist Johnny Colt and drummer Steve Gorman in 1989.
Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes are set to play Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House on April 2. He added that with time and perspective comes acceptance and availability to others.

The Black Crowes released three more studio albums that decade: Amorica in 1994, Three Snakes and One Charm in 1996, and By Your Side in 1999. Amorica was certified gold in the US. In 2000, they released the compilation album Greatest Hits 1990–1999: A Tribute to a Work in Progress... and the live album Live at the Greek.
Originally, only the Before the Frost portion of the double album was available on CD, and the CD purchase came with a code allowing download of the Until the Freeze portion from the Black Crowes website. A vinyl version was also released, featuring all the same songs but in a different running order. [2]
