Damon Albarn (/ ˈ ɔː l b ɑːr n /, AWL-barn; [2] born 23 March 1968) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. He is the frontman and main lyricist of the rock band Blur and the co-creator and primary musical contributor of the virtual band Gorillaz .
After their original name, Seymour, was rejected by Food Records, the band chose Blur from a list of alternatives the label drew up.. Blur were formed in December 1988 when bassist Alex James joined Damon Albarn's band, Circus, and they changed the name to Seymour after J. D. Salinger's Seymour: An Introduction.
