St John's College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford. [2] Founded as a men's college in 1555, it has been coeducational since 1979. [ 3 ] Its founder, Sir Thomas White , intended to provide a source of educated Roman Catholic clerics to support the Counter-Reformation under Queen Mary .

St John's College, formally the College of St John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge, [4] is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge, founded by the Tudor matriarch Lady Margaret Beaufort. In constitutional terms, the college is a charitable corporation established by a charter dated 9 April 1511.
Regent's Park College is located just off St Giles' in the heart of Oxford, near St Cross College and St John's College. The site is based around a large neoclassical quadrangle (as seen in the adjacent picture). The quadrangle is well known for the extensive Virginia creeper which covers most of the buildings.
The old St Anne's became Rewley House, and was the ideal base of operations — particularly since the small hotels in Wellington Square had long been used as accommodation by the University's external students coming to Oxford for residential portions of their courses. Rewley House in the 1920s included a library, a common room and lecture halls.

In 1980, it acquired a site in Iffley Road, East Oxford, that had been vacated by the Society of St. John the Evangelist. The current buildings contain the church of St John the Evangelist, designed by G F Bodley; accommodation is provided on site for married and single students.
