The results listed for 2022 are tentative. On 8 March 2023, the IBJJF announced that three 2022 adult black-belt gold medalists were disqualified due to use of performance-enhancing drugs. [1] However, as of 10 March 2023, the IBJJF's official results still listed them as winners.
The IBJJF also uses a third criterion for determining ranking points, which is the calendar season the tournament took place. For the 2017/2018 season, ranking points gained at an IBJJF event from 2015/16 were multiplied by 1, 2016/2017 by 2, and 2017/2018 by 3.
The IBJJF gives tournaments weighting which helps calculate the number of points an athlete can win via their participation. For the 2017/2018 IBJJF calendar, the Pan American Championship had a weighting of 4 alongside the European Championship , making it second in importance only to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which has a weighting of 7.
