I have read and been told of predatory wildlife, such as fisher cats, eagles and coyotes. I have been Cat safety, fisher cats, bears (Rutland, Brattleboro: house, neighborhood, live in) - Vermont (VT) - City-Data Forum
a fisher cat followed my cat into the house through the cat door - it was a terrifying experience! they are a vile animal that will kill small pets. I lost THREE cats to a fisher. I saw him take two and only found pieces of the third..... the .22 is ready when he shows up again.

There was a fisher cat sighting in Foxboro when I was there a couple of years ago. It was up in a tree in someone's backyard that bordered on a surprisingly small patch of woods and wetland (I guess they don't need a very big habitat). The Animal Control got it, but the picture they had in the paper was scary.

I live in town, but when one cat ran out of the house one night, I was practically in a panic until I got her back inside. I was thinking of fisher cats, although I have been told they are not a problem in town. I am thinking of buying property in a more rural part of Brattleboro, but one thing I worry about - a lot - is cat safety.
My mother and I were outside on my back patio just a little while ago, where we saw what looked and moved exactly like a fisher cat. We live on a golf course, and noticed this animal walking across the sand trap, the greens then into the woods. At first I thought it was racoon, but after a good look, I could see that it wasn't.
Out of curiousity. Why don't people call mink "nasty"? Or ermine "nasty"?
It's a Fisher Cat, very unusual to see it in the daytime, not a good sign that could mean it's not healthy. I would notify your local game warden or city animal control dept. These guys can be nasty. Known for feasting on local feline population but at night.
It isn't looking good as the man down the street said there are quite a few fisher cats in the neighborhood. I have called everywhere. I am getting quite frantic and haven't slept or be able to eat for days. I would be one thing to know its the not knowing that is making me crazy looking.
