OSE Headquarters 1–3 Karolou St., 104 37, Athens. The Hellenic Railways Organisation or OSE (Greek: Οργανισμός Σιδηροδρόμων Ελλάδος, romanized: Organismos Sidirodromon Ellados or Greek: Ο.Σ.Ε.) is the Greek national railway company which owns, maintains and operates all railway infrastructure in Greece with the exception of Athens' rapid transit lines.
Line A3 runs between Athens and Chalcis, and Line A4 runs between Piraeus and Kiato. [30] [29] The train service between Kiato and Aigio is a local Peloponnese service. [31] The Athens Suburban Railway operates from 4:30 am to midnight daily, and there are 45 stations in the network. [30]
Its services were transferred to Larissis Station upon the opening of the Suburban Railway line to Corinth on 27 September 2005. [9] [10] In 2005, TrainOSE was created as a brand within OSE to concentrate on rail services and passenger interface. In 2008, all Athens Suburban Railway services were transferred from OSE to TrainOSE.
The OSE class A.201, also known as the Διακοσαράκι (Diakosaraki, Little two-hundred) [1] or Πλούτο , [1] after the well known cartoon, due to the generally not accepted aesthetic result of the reconstruction completed in 2010, [2] is, along with the class A.101, the oldest locomotive operated by TRAINOSE.
The station opened in 1891 when the Piraeus, Athens and Peloponnese Railways (S.P.A.P.) line was extended to Olympia. In 1951 the S.P.A.P. absorbed the Line. In 1953 the S.P.A.P. itself was absorbed into the Northwestern Greece Railways (SDBE). In 1962 the station became part of the Hellenic State Railways (SEK).
Opened on 16 June 1886 [3] by the Thessaly Railways (now part of OSE) as its first terminal station. Today Hellenic Train operates Regional Express services to destinations across Greece. It is currently the most northwesterly part of the Greek railway network in operation.
The line shares a part of its course with lines A2 and A4 as well as Metro line 3, but also with line A3 at Athens. The first Suburban line was inaugurated on 30 July 2004, using 17 OSE Class 560 DMUs between Larissa Station (Now Athens) and the Airport.
