The dome disappears, and Sasuke stands over Naruto in victory. However, refusing to follow the same path as his brother (killing your best friend to unlock the Mangekyo Sharingan), and also remembering what Naruto means to him, Sasuke spares Naruto and heads off to Orochimaru ’s hideout.
Later on, Kabuto arrives to see Sasuke standing over Orochimaru's snake corpse, and from the Sharingan, he finds out what happened: Orochimaru had failed in possessing Sasuke's body, as Sasuke manages to reverse Orochimaru's Jutsu and absorbs Orochimaru into his body, overpowering Orochimaru’s dimension with his own willpower.
Orochimaru (大蛇丸) is a fictional character from Naruto, a manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto.Orochimaru is a former ninja from the village of Konohagakure who is well known for work in wars which earned him the title of Sannin and becomes a terrorist as a means to cheat death, and built his own ninja village Otogakure.

Sasuke continues his battle with the Sound Four, but eventually becomes too injured, including being weakened by using the Curse Seal. The Sound Four tell stories of how Sasuke can become stronger if he would lend his power to Orochimaru. Sasuke, tired of playing ninja games, finally gives in, and goes to them.

The DVD collection was released on March 5, 2014 under the title of The Fourth Great Ninja War - Sasuke and Itachi (忍界大戦・サスケとイタチ, Ninkai Taisen - Sasuke to Itachi). The season contains five musical themes between two openings and three endings.
The opening themes for this season were "Blue Bird" (ブルーバード, Burūbādo) by Ikimono-gakari (used for episodes 72 to 77) and "Closer" by Joe Inoue (used for episodes 78 to 88). The ending themes were " Broken Youth " by NICO Touches the Walls (used for episodes 72 to 77) and "Long Kiss Good Bye" by Halcali (used for episodes 78 to 88).
