Glen Rose is located around the junction of U.S. Highway 67 and State Highway 144 in central Somervell County. The city is situated nearly 17 miles (27 km) south of Granbury and 52 miles (84 km) southwest of Fort Worth . [ 8 ]
The community is located on Farm to Market Road 200, four miles northeast of Glen Rose. The community is a suburb of the Grandbury Micropolitan Statistical Area. The origins of the community's name date back to the 1890s. Area residents requested a post office and gathered to choose a name.
Nemo's population has never exceeded 60 persons and the community's few students are served by the Glen Rose Independent School District. In the year 2000, Brazos River Charter School opened in Nemo serving the town and the surrounding communities of Glen Rose, Cleburne, Granbury, Bono, George's Creek, and Walnut Springs amongst others.
The roof and clock tower were damaged in the 1902 Glen Rose tornado. County funds at the time limited the repair, which eliminated the clock tower. In 1986, work was done to restore the structure to its original design. Glen Rose Collegiate Institute, or Glen Rose College, operated as a private, faith-based educational facility from 1889 to 1910.
