Brookville is a borough in Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, 70 miles (110 km) northeast of Pittsburgh. As of the 2010 census , the population was 3,933. [ 4 ] Founded in 1830, it is the county seat of Jefferson County.
The township is in west-central Jefferson County and is bordered to the east by the borough of Brookville, the county seat. Interstate 80 crosses the northern part of the township, with access from Exit 78 ( Pennsylvania Route 36 ) in Brookville just east of the township border.
