Regarding pressures, 28 psi all around is under inflated--you need 32 to 34 psi front and 36 to 39 psi back, to comply with placards and the owner's manual.
These are very sticky tires in winter and very comfortable. Those damn run flats, Bridgestone Drivegauer BL 225/45R17 91W 50000 mile, were so damn uncomfortable. If you ran over the a toothpick seemed like you just hit a 4x4. I got tired of being jolted by every little thing in the road.

The tread is OK but they are pushing 10 years old, so I am planning to put on new tires. I am new to run flats and have read a zillion threads, which are often conflicting.
I've probably done everything the opposite of you on Frau Putzer's X3: optional 245/50-19 tires, optional non-run-flat tires, regular rotation, adjusting the tire pressures for even wear (39 PSI front and rear, vs. BMW's recommended 32 PSI front and 35 PSI rear), and corrected an alignment problem. Here are my tread depths after 32k miles.
Replacing the OE Goodyear LS2 RFT's with Michelin PSS (non-RFT's) transformed my 2014 535i. Even with the RFT's, I carried a spare tire and jack. I ordered Frau Putzer's 2018 X3 xDrive 30i with the no-cost, optional non-RFT's. BMW threw in the spare and jack kit for free (normally a $150 option if ordered with RFT's).

Don't overpay. And no, you don't need to replace all 4, just need to have 2 matching on each axle. Put the new ones on the rear. Truvor said: The whole idea of run-flat tires make no sense to me. They feel awful and add no security. Get rid of ALL FOUR of them and you'll be so much happier driving your bimmer.
Former: 2006 Z4 / 1981 320i / 1973 2002 / Jag XKE / SS 396 Chevelle / 440 Dodge R/T and 40+ others. My 2016 BMW X1 X drive 25I came with Run Flat bridgestone Potenza (good grip but noisy as). At 30000km I changed them to Run Flat Continental PremiumContact™ 6. Lots quieter and just as good grip and handles better.

The G01 X3 initially offered non-run-flats as a option, but that was dropped with the LCI (mid-life update). The G20 330i also offered them, but dropped them with the LCI.
