Which Decware amp sounds best is mostly dependent on the speakers. Here's my experience: I've been a Decware customer for about 15 years, starting with a CSP2+ which I used in front of an Odyssey Khartago. It was a great preamp and I've always regretted selling it. In 2013 I bought an SE84UFO2, which I actually just sold this weekend.
The AN kit is more expensive than the Decare when comparing 300B amps to 300B amps. Audio Note does offer integrated amps, like the Oto and Soro, at more reasonable prices and no 3-year wait. Now, I have an AN based system, (Kit 4, and also a number of years ago, a Kit-1 300B amp) so I'm far from objective. I have never heard the Decware 300B ...
Location: Chicago (Lincoln Park), IL. No doubt Decware is a premium, hi end amplifier. I'm sure they sound amazing, too! As for Raven Audio, if you haven't already, I'd strongly recommend you to reach out to the owner Dave Thomson (936-662-5100 or dave@ravenaudio.com) He's great to talk to and helpful as well.
Cabinets made by Bob Ziegler, maker of many Decware Speakers. These Parkers are MTM design similar to Decware Model MG944 speaker. But they have a heavier, tighter reinforced cabinet and ribbon tweeters, ribbon wiring with a Clarity cap. No other crossover. 4 Ohm with dips just below 2. (95-98db est).
Not familiar with the TubeCube, but I am familiar with Decware products. 1) lifetime guarantee, 2) built in the USA, 3) great transformers, 4) pretty straight through signal path and 5) they sound great. I own the Zen Triode Integrated and I couldn't be any more happier. Last amp I'll ever buy.
Location: Chula Vista, CA. As if Decware needed their waiting list to get any longer! Harley Lovegrove of Pearl Acoustics Loudspeakers does a great review of the Decware Zen TORII MK5. The Decware Zen TORII MK5 - touches down in Belgium!
To my ears, the Betsy & Buck sounds the best, with the Lii 12 being a close second (these two have a very close sound profile). I've since sold the Alnico and Lii 15. To the best of my knowledge, Caintuck no longer sells the Betsy & Buck. The bass is nothing to write home about, but what is there is pretty good and tight.
It’s pretty much as great as stated. Correct speaker matching is essential for a 2 watt amp though. Something was off if your soundstage was as small as stated. Lifelike soundstage, details and holographic imaging is its forte, I’ve demo’d quite a few amps at this point and personally never heard better.
Mt. Horeb, WI. I had a CSP2 in front of my SE84UFO2 for a while but found I preferred it without. The preamp added some grunt but it came at the expense of the soundstage depth and micro dynamics that make the SE84UFO2 so unique. Just my experience with my system. rischa, Oct 8, 2022.
Location: San Antonio. DECWARE TABOO MKIV. (sorry for the crappy pic of it next to my Mogwai) . I know some folks here have heard this amplifier. I tried to find a thread already dedicated to it but couldn't. So far really good. Below subject to change. Update: So pretend these are like meet impressions.
