The German diaspora (German: Deutschstämmige, pronounced [ˈdɔɪ̯t͡ʃˌʃtɛmɪɡə] ⓘ) consists of German people and their descendants who live outside of Germany. The term is used in particular to refer to the aspects of migration of German speakers from Central Europe to different countries around the world.

Rudolf Gopas (né Hopp, [1] 13 December 1913 – 23 July 1983) was a New Zealand artist and art teacher. He was born in Šilutė, Germany (present day Lithuania). [2] Gopas' works are held in the collections of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, [3] the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, [4] Christchurch Art Gallery [5] and the Hocken Library.
In 1978 Eldred-Grigg completed a history PhD thesis at Australian National University called 'The pastoral families of the Hunter Valley, 1880–1914' [2]. In 1987 he published his first novel, Oracles and Miracles, the story of two sisters growing up in Christchurch before and during World War II. [3]
